Jindalee is an aboriginal word for a place that eye cannot see, or somewhere beyond where the eye can see, like over the horizon.

Over the horizon is where our weather comes from, and disappears over, it brings with it, Sun that warms our bodies, but can burn our skin. Rain that we drink can also wash us away in a flood.  Wind for sailing and driving our Wind Farms, can topple trees, and demolish houses. Snow that makes winter playgrounds can close schools. Ice is for skating, but makes us shivers, and freezes our pipes.

The Jindalee over-the-horizon radar also known as Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) is a radar network that can monitor air and sea movements across 37,000km2. It has a range of 3,000 km. It is used in the defence of Australia and can also monitor maritime operations, wave heights and wind directions. It was built by RLM Management in partnership with Defence Science and Technology Organisation, Lockheed Martin, Telstra, BAE, Tenix, Marconi_Company. approximately $A1.8 billion.
